Buy day exemption

The centre of Delft is car free. If you want to drive into the car free area, you will need exemption at your license plate. Camera’s register the license plate when you drive into the area. If you have an exemption, you can drive into the area at 5 km/h. Is there no exemption registered at your license plate? Then you will receive a fine by the CJIB. License plate access is for every vehicle with a license plate, so also for a moped, scooter and speedpedelec.  

Request day exemption directly

Do you want to drive into the car free area for loading and unloading? Or do you want to pick someone up who has a physical disability? Then you can request a free day exemption online. You can do this before driving into the centre, but also afterwards on the same day. It is also possible to request exemption at the office in the Zuidpoortgarage at the Zuidwal in Delft. A day exemption is not valid on friday between 6pm till 9 pm and on saturday by 11 am till 5 pm.

License plate control

To drive into the car free area, you will need exemption by the license plate of your vehicle. Camera’s register your license plate when you drive into the area. If you have exemption, you can drive into the car free area at 5 km/h. Don’t you have exemption? Then you will get a warning letter. The second time you will get a fine by the CJIB. Mind this!

  • Only at the Oude en Nieuwe Langendijk mopeds and scooters are allowed to drive without exemption.
  • Are you going by foot with the moped, speedpedelec or scooter by hand? Then you do not need exemption.
  • Cyclists (also electric bikes till 25 km/h) and scooters do not need exemption to get into the car free area.
